Maulana Fazal Rahman Is Contesting Election From Three Constituencies

The head of the Jameet e Ulema e Islan (F) is contesting elections from three constituencies of KPK. He has to face tough competition from strongest candidates of PML (N), PPP and PTI. All the three constituencies are important historically as in one constituency Zulfiqqar Ali Bhutto contesed election against Mufti Mahmood(RA) and was defeated though he won other four seats in different constituencies. Thirty-three candidates are contesting election forNA-24 Dera Ismail Khan but the actual fight will be between Fazal Rahman and PPP's candidate former senator Waqar Ahmad Khan. NA-24 is among those constituencies where this many candidates are in the field. Actress Musarrat Shaheen and former MNA Umar Farooq Mian Khel are also contesting for the seat but the latest survey indicates that their position is not strong. WAqar Ahmad has some priorities against Maulana for the voters as he is locasl person ( though he mostly lives in Lahore), the Shia population that is in enough majority in DI Khan may cast their votes in favor of Waqar Ahmad. Waqar Ahmad Khan is the son of important leader of PPP Gulzar Ahmad Khan ( who was once known as Gulzar Claiman Wala) and it is said he earned a lot of money in the claims of Indian migrants in 1947. Waqar Ahmad has done some development works for the area. However, Maulana knows the politics of D I Khan very well and he sacrificed some seats to make seat adjustment with other parties. Fazal Rashman has made seat adjustment with Javed Akbar Khan in Paharpur's provincial assembly seat and in Kulachi with Israr Khan Gandapur, who is the son of late former chief minister of KPK SArdar Inayat Ullah Khan. The votes of both he tehsils are divided in NA 24 and NA 25 (Tank). If Fazal Rahman gets votes with the support of these two candidates he will be in stable and strong position. In the last elections Maulana lost NA24 seat against Faisal Kundi but won NA 36 seast in Bannu. During the last elections the local people wee not happy with Maulana as he did not do any developmental work in the area. (Continued)
