Chapter Of Space Shuttle "Discovery" Closed


On March 9, 2011 in the evening, as soon as the space shuttle "Discovery" touched the earth the shining historical chapter of space journey was closed. The third space shuttle included in the American Space Program started its first journey for space on on August 30, 1984 and it was launched for the last time on February 24, 2011. Its last journey 0f 13 days. In this apace journey towards International Space Station (ISS), 6 astronauts were aboard. In addition to astronauts, it carried some parts of under construction ISS and homonide robot. The International Space Station is being constructed on the distance of 220 miles from earth in the orbit. It is a joint project of 16 countries that is under construction since 1998. The space shuttle program was started in the later decade of 60's. It got a pivotal role in the space operations of NASA that includes astronauts. Under the "Vision For Space Exploration" Program presented by the former president Bush of the USA, the space shuttles were specified for the construction of ISS. According to the program all the shuttles had to retire in 2010 after the completion of International Space Station , but the ISS construction could not be completed in scheduled time, but space shuttleprgram has to end this year.
