Presidential Election Is Being Held In Afghanistan Today








Voting for the presidential election in Afghanistan will be held today. Pakistan has sealed its border with Afghanistan, while only three points will be kept opened for the movement of the voters. Though there is great enthusiasm in he citizens in Afghanistan but the Afghan refugees in Pakistan have been deprived of the right of balloting. There are eight candidates contesting presidential election including Abdullah Abdullah, Rasul Zalmay, Muhammad Suleman Gul, Dr Ashraf Ghani, Qutub Ud Din Jalal and Abdul Rasul Siaf. Additional security staff will deployed on 2640 miles long Pak-Afghan border. Meanwhile, Afghan Taliban have threatened the public to abstain from polling otherwise they will have to face serious consequences. According to ISPR patrolling has been enhanced on Pak-Afghan border. Strict scrutiny/checking will be observed on the routes leading to Afghan border. Arial surveillance to check illegal movement will also be conducted. Hotline has also been established between Pak-Afghan military authorities.
