COMSATS' Students Manufactured Aerodynamic Environment-Friendly Car








Around five-months of extensive labour, collective team efforts, Rs 3,50,000 collection on self-help basis and the outcome is emergence of blue aerodynamic environment-friendly one-seated small car. The car has jointly been manufactured by the students and the faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) of a public sector university COSSATS, Sahiwal Campus.
It is learnt that car has been selected and will represent Pakistan in the upcoming Manila International Auto Show 2015 starting from April 9 in Philippines. Giving details of the self-manufactured car called RUSH, Dr Zaheer Ud Din head MED of the COMSATS University said the low cost aerodynamic car was the project of the final year students of the department. Eight students along with the faculty member Tahir Asif successfully developed a model car "RUSH". The team of the students has used 70CC engine and and light weight fibreglass in developing all its exterior and interior.
Designer Tahir Asif Asif said the car has nine-feet length, around four-feet height and width and will cover 60 km in a litre. At present car has 200 kg weight and one person seating capacity which can be expanded with design. The Shell Pakistan representative Afshan, who specially arrived from Karachi said they had been following the formation of car for the last five months. She said total 14 teams will be sent to upcoming Manila International Auto Show 2015 "RUSH will be among the 14 cars being sponsored for the show," she added.
