Zaid Hamid Has Filed A Petition In SC Seeking Registation Of Treason Case Against Hamid Mir
Pakistani political commentator Zaid Hamid has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking registration of treason case against senior journalists including Haimd Mir, Najam Sethi and Hassan Nisar and others. Pakistan's famous lawyer and All Pakistan Muslim League member Ahmad Raza Qasuri appeared on behalf of the petitioner and filed the petition in the SC. Zaid Hamid is seeking application of treason charges against Hamid Mir, Najam Sethi, Hassan Nisar, Nusrat Javed, Marvi Sarmad, Imtiaz Alam and advocate Asma Jehangir. (all the secular pro-India journalists). The Supreme Court has admitted the petition for hearing after setting aside the objections raised by the Registrar of the apex court. Zaid Hamid has filed an appeal against the objections made by the Registrar's office. The SC Registrar had raised objection to that petitioner had made the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) and the ministry of Information as respondents in his application filed in 2012. Commenting on the development a journalist said a self-claimed agent of agencies Zaid Hamid considered himself as a patriot and all other journalists as traitors.
