PPP Filed A 2 Billion Defamation Suit Against Hashwani

The PPP has finally filed a Rs two billion defamation suit against Sadruddin Hashwani, a business tycoon and owner of five-star hotels, for levelling a series of allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari, including his involvement in 2008 bombing at Marriot hotel that killed 50 people. In his biography "Truth Always Prevails" Mr Hashwani also alleged that Zardari wanted to grab some of his properties. The book has recently been published by an Indian author and distributed by a local book-seller. On December 16, Mr Zardari served a legal notice of Rs two billion on Hashwani, the Indian publisher and distributors- Penguin Books in Haryana and Liberty Book in Karachi. PPP leaders and spokesperson have termed the Hashwani's book a "conspiracy" against Zardari and the PPP, as 'usual'.
