Mosques In Britain Opened Their Doors Across The Country For General Public
A Channel 4 News Presenter Cathy Newman complained that she was allowed to enter into her local Mosque on the Visit My Mosque Day organised by British Muslim Council, though she was respectfully dressed. However she later reported receiving warm welcome from another Mosque nearby in Streatham, South London, at Hydrei Islamic centre where she was served cake and tea. Asmat Jeraj, a managing Trustee of the centre claimed that the problem was caused by Miss Newman as she turned up to the Mosque which was not participating in the event. In the wake of terror attack by gunmen in Paris last month, it was held to provide insight into the running of centres and worship places and to allow people to ask questions about Islam.
