The Pakistani Universities Have Only 6 Professors In The Departments Of Journalism
The departments of Journalism and Mass Communications in the universities through out the country have only 6 professors while government universities in Lahore have no professor's level teacher. Three professors are in the private universities of Punjab. According to details instead of extended networks od print and electronic media the journalism department are in the worst conditions. This department isd the only one tht has the most minimum number of professors among the departments of social sciences. According to sources among the government universities of the country, Karachi university has prof Dr Tahir Masood, prof Dr Rafia Taj, prof Dr Mahmood Ghaznavi while in the Islamia University Bahalpur prof Dr Ghulam Shabbir Baloch, in Allama Iqbal OPen University prof Dr Abdul Siraj and in Gujrat University prof Dr Fraishullah are the only in professor rank. Higher Education Commission has set the requirement for promotion to professor rank as having 15 year teaching experience along with 15 publications, There are only four teachers who fulfill the required conditions but they have not be given the professor scale. they include Dr Ghulam Shabbir Baloch from Baha Ud Din Zakria University Multan, Dr Anjam Zia from Lahore college for Women University, Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz and Dr Safira Hamid from Punjab University.
