Fears Increased For Aasia Bibi After The Hanging Of Mumtaz Qadri








Activists voiced new fears for a Christian lady, Aasia Bibi, on death row for blasphemy as the religious grouped launched fresh calls for her hanging after the execution of Qadri. Aasia Bibi, A Christian woman, mother of five whose plight has prompted prayers from Vatican, is on death row since 2010 of committing blasphemy during an argument with a Muslim woman on a bowl of water. Qadri's funeral brought 100,000 people on streets of Rawalpindi, many chanting for Aasia Bibi to be hanged. Lal Masjid Imam demanded execution of Bibi as soon as possible and not to bow to international pressure. Even if authorities do no succumb to the pressure, religious groups could incite any of Qadri's thousands of supporters to vigilante action.
