An "Iron Lady" Of Brazil


RoSaf was considered the master mind of a robbery in governor house on June 18, 1969 worth $ 2.5 million This was the most beneficial job of armed struggle. But, their organization could not remain united in spite of being financially strong and was divided into 2 groups , one believed in armed struggle while other was in favor of peaceful way to reach to the goal. Rosaf was with the later group. One the prominent workers of her group were arrested and some of them disclosed names of the members. She was arrested and brought OBAN headquarter where she was tortured and after a long trial she was sentenced for six year imprisonment. After she was released from jail spent some time with family. She got admission in federal university for completing graduation , but did not participate in student's movements. During 1989 she joined the political party of former president Lola De Silva. She got divorce from her husband in 2000 when she came to know about his affairs with a woman. The head of worker's party Lola De Silva was elected the President during 2002 and she was appointed as the head of Energy Policy Committee on 1st of January 2003. Due to her excellent performance she was appointed as the Minister for Energy in 2005, the status of which is equivalent to prime minister in Brazil. Chief of Presidential Staff Jose Dirceu had to resign due to a corruption scandal and Rosaf replaced him. She worked on this important from June 21, 2005 to 31 March 2010 till the election campaign started.
