Dr Maliha Lodhi Has Been Appointed Permanent Delegate To UN








Dr Maliha Lodhi, a senior diplomat has been appointed as Pakistan's permanent representative to United Nations. Announcing the appointment of Dr Maliha Lodhi foreign office said that she will succeed Masood Khan. Masood Khan will continue his duties on the post till Maliha Lodhi takes charge her duties in February 2015. Dr Maliha Lodhi has served twice as Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States during 1993-1996. She also performed her duties as High Commissioner of Pakistan to United Kingdom from 2003 to 2008. She was also appointed as member of the UN Secretary General's advisory Board on Disarmament Affairs in 2001 to 2005. Originally she is a journalist. She was the editor of English language Daily Muslim. She is PhD in political Science. Her thesis title was " Bhutto, the People's Pakistan Party and political development in Pakistan from 1967-1977.". She was the founding editor of The News International ( 1990-1993 and 1997-1999), and became the first woman in Asia to edit a national daily newspaper.
