Do Illegal Goods Seized Really Belong To Media Groups?








Criminal activities of workers belonging to two media giants have been highlighted in Pakistan after seizure of illegal goods and a raid on the defaulter cable operator in Lahore. Security agencies on Wednesday seized illegal and dangerous stuff on Lahore railway station including nine wine bottles, ten 30-32 bore revolver, ball bearing, a pump action and 100 gram suspicious white powder seemingly 'gunpowder'. The recovered material was wrapped in two packets and was sent via cargo from Karachi railway station to Lahore. General Manager Railways said the sender termed this as domestic products which were sent to a representative of ARY channel and they do not know the reason of sending such dangerous things. A case has been filed with registration No 14/194 at railway police station Lahore over transporting illegal goods accusing several media, security and railway employees.
The official revealed that the ID card of the ARY representative was also seized by the railway authorities and was also accused in the case along with two railway employees and three policemen. The person named Asif Shahzad Qureshi, who came to receive the packets was also arrested. Sub-inspector and a constable were arrested while deputy superintendant police was suspended.
