Pakistan Has Developed Underground Coal Gasification Control System

Pakistan has prepared the World First Computerized underground control system for coal gasification. The managing director Dr Muhammad Shabbir (Hilal e Imtiaz, Tamgha e Imtiaz, the best performance medals of Pakistan) of Thar underground coal gasification company told the media that the control system of underground coal gasification has been designed by the experts of the gasification company while, the system was developed by national institution "NESCOM". Computer software has also been developed by Pakistani experts for the complete computerized control system that has been installed st Thar underground Gasification project. The most modern on-line gas analyzers equipped with latest technology are the part of this system. The analyzers are used for checking the quality of gas.
The system will check air pressure along with checking the gas quality during the gasification from underground coal at the Thar project. According to Dr Shabbir, after the preparation of controlling system, Pakistan became the first country of the world where underground gasification is being controlled by computerized system. Whereas, In developed countries like China, underground gasification is controlled manually. Ten air compressors have also been installed at the project. Among them, 8 are low pressures (high volume) and 2 are high pressures (low volume). These compressors are used for producing gas through chemical reaction by providing oxygen to underground coal.
