Important National Events (Pakistan) Occuring During 2016




**-- January 2016-- **- The Pakistan and India governments provided one another with a full list of nuclear sites, military and civilian in accordance with the 1988 Non-Nuclear Aggression Agreement. **--A suicide bomb attacker killed 14 people and injured 20 more near Quetta on Jan 13. **--Brahumdagh Bugti's aylum application was rejected in Switzerland on Jan 17, since he fled Afghanistan surviving Al-Qaeda's attempts on his life. **-- Parvez Musharraf was acquitted in murder trial of Akbat Bugti on Jan 18, the Baloch tribal leader who died in a military operation in 2006. **-- Gunmen attacked Charsadda University in which 21 people were reportedly killed. **-- March 2016 **-- A bomb blast in Peshawar bus killed 15 people. **-- Seventy two people were killed in a suicidal bombing in Lahore Park. **-- April 2016 **-- Seven policemen guarding polio team were killed on duty. **-- IED blast in Mohmand Agency killed two. **-- In Punjan at least 33 people died after eating sweet, accidently tainted with insecticide. **-- June 2016 **-- Renowned musician Amjad Sabri was killed in a targeted shooting. **-- November 2016 **-- At least 14 people were killed and 59 other were injured when a gas cylinder aboard an oil tanker explosion caused major fire at the ship breaking yard of Gadani in Balochistan. Dozans of others remained missing. **-- At least 22 people were killed and 65 injured following the collision of Bahaud din Zakria Express with a stationary train at Juma Goth railway station near Karachi. **December 2016 PIA plane Pk-661 enroute to Islamabad from Chitral crashed during flight killing 47 persons including renown religious scholar Junaid Jamshed.
