How The Foreigners Sitting In Our Assemblies Decide The Fate Of The Nation--Apex Court

Supreme court of Pakistan has suspended the membership of National Assembly of Farah Naz Isphahani, the wife of former Ambassador to the USA, Hussain Haqqani. Farah Naz had replied to the court that having the citizenship of the USA she as loyal to the country as any Pakistani can be. The appellant Syed Mahmood Naqvi presented the documents in the court that show her citizenship as an American. He also presented to the court the affidavit that a person fills in for applying to the American citizenship. The chief justice had to say that membership of such persons would have to be suspended and Farah Naz herself had admitted her American citizenship. Under the constitution person having dual citizenship are not authorized to sit in the parliament.
Attorney general argued that the holders of dual citizenship were faithful to Pakistan too and Pakistan's law allowed dual citizenship. Justice Jawad read the affidavit of the applicant for the USA citizenship and said that this is quite different on record and the Farah Naz had taken oath while getting citizenship that if needed she will take gun in her hands for the USA to fight against its enemies. Chief justice said neither a foreigner can sit in the assemblies not can decide the fate of the country. Chief Justice said no compromise could be done on this issue and if she was an American citizen we will suspend her membership so that she may not be able to attend budget session.
Similarly, Rahman Malik will have to present the certificate of his quitting American citizenship on May 20 th hearing.
