Pakistan Is Gifted With Geographical Solar Strip

Pakistan is situated on the solar strip among other countries where sun shines for 8-10 hours during most of the days of the year. During the days sun is shining it is possible for Pakistan to produce 1000 watts electricity per square meter. Another encouraging thing is that solar panels are lowering in price gradually. The capability of photo-voltic cells installed in the panels have also increased. Old cells converted 10 % of sunlight into electricity, while latest cells convert 20 % of sunlight into power. Scientists are hopeful that in future such cells will be invented that would convert 60 of the sunlight into electricity. Therefore, according to a study the solar energy will the the cheapest source of electricity by 2030. It is extremely, regrettable on the part of the government who is not keen to utilize the environment-friendly alternate source of energy. While India, Bangladesh and Srilanka advanced ahead in this sector. The governments of our neighboring countries want to utilize clean source of producing electricity like solar and wind energy instead of expensive sources of oil and coal that pollute the environment too. Therefore, institutes have been established not only on government level to promote solar energy system but private sector is fully supporting the process.
On other hand if any organization want to work on domestic or industrial solar energy system, it has to go through a long and most corrupt channel of red tap-ism. Moreover, oil and gas mafias do not want that alternate energy sources be promoted. Due to these hindrances solar energy system could not get popularized. Though there millions of villages that are deprived of electricity.
At present different China made appliances that can be run with solar energy are available in the market e.g. soilar fans(PKR 8000), mobile charger (PKR 1000), geyser (PKR 20000-75000), lap-top charger ((PKR 6000- 18000), generator (PKR 0.3 million) and electricity producing system (PKR 6000- 10000), the items can be of standard or sub-standard according to the price.
However, some NGO's are installing solar systems in rural areas of Sindh with the collaboration of western countries. The "Connect" installed last year 65 smaller solar domestic systems in the village Urs Muhammad Khaskheli of Sajawal tehsil in Sindh. Thus this village became the first populace of Pakistan that have electricity in house through solar energy. They can recharge their mobile sets now for which they had to go 13 miles away to Rora town before to remain connected with the world. The system which costs PKR 20000-25000 has revolutionized the lives of 300 people of Urs Muhammad Khaskheli.
