Indian Girl Marries A Stray Dog As A Part Of Tribal Ritual
An 18-year-old girl in the east Indian state of Jharkhand has married a stray dog named Sheru, found by Mangli's father, as a part of tribal ritual to ward off an evil spell. According to India media report, Mangli Munda from a remote village of the state wed the dog in a lavish ceremony. The wedding was hastily organised by village elders after a local Guru led Mangli's parents to believe that teenager has ill-luck and that marrying a man would bring destruction to the family and the community. The dog named Sheru stray found by girl's father was brought to the wedding by chauffeur driven car and welcomes by revellers. Mangli, who has not been to school said she was not happy to wed a dog, but insisted it will help change her fortune. The hesitant bride said ' I am marrying a dog because my village elders believe my evil spell will pass on to dog.' "The village elders told us that we should organise the wedding as soon as we can. We had to make sure that evil spell will be destroyed, said Mangli's father Sri Munda.
