Pakistan- born Abid Raja Has Been Elected As Vice President Of Norwegian Parliament (Video)




It is for the second time in the history of Norway that a Muslim and Asian of Pakistani origin became vice-president of the country's national parliament. Oslo-based Pakistani politician Abid Qayyum Raja has been elected as vice-president of Norway's national parliament. Previously, another Norwegian PakistaniAkhtar Chaudhary had been elected as VP in 2009. Raja secured fifth position in six-member parliament-presidency panel. Olemic Thommessen was re-elected as president.Raja and two other Norwegian Pakistani politicians, Ms Hadia Tajik and Mudaassar Hussain Kapoor were elected as members the parliament in the election held last month. Chairman of Pakistan Union Norway termed Raja's election as vice president great achievement that was the result of honesty and hard work of Pakistanis in the Norwegian society. Raja started his career as a lawer in Norway after graduating. He also hold a master's degree from Oxford University.
