How Much Water Does Your Body Need?
The summer is on the doorsteps and temperatures are soaring in the country. There is no better time to emphasise the importance of enough drinking water. It may be difficult to say how much water a person needs per day, as it depends on the daily activities of each person. The good rule of thumb is every person should drink 30 to 35 ml of water per kilo body weight. For example when a person weighs 60 kilos he/ she should drink 1.8 to 2.1 litres of water per day. Doctors say that people should understand to drink water even if they are not thirsty. Water is needed for essential body functions. It is carrier, distributing essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and glucose to the body cells, , while it removes waste products including toxins that organs' cells reject. Water participates in the biochemical break-down of what we eat. It helps to control body temperature, nutritionists say.
