Major And Important Events In Pakistan During January And February 2014
The year 2014 remained the bloodiest year with respect to terror related incidents and deaths due to road accidents, for Pakistan. Following are the some major events ocurring in the country during the period. **-- January 2014:- *- January 1:- A bomb blasted on Qambrani road in Akhtarabad, Quetta near a bus carrying 50 pilgrims from Iran to Pakistan. In this three of the passengers were killed and nearly 24 injured. *- January 06:- A bomb detonated in a tribal elder's home in Khyber agency, killing 10 people and killing other nine. *- January 09:- 14-year-old boy Aitizaz Hassan in northern Pakistan was killed stopping a suicide bomber at the main gate of the school saving the lives of all of his schoolmates gathered for the morning assembly. The Sunni group Lashkar e Jhanghvi accepted the responsibility for the attack. *- January 10:- A car bomb was detonated by Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan near the car of senior police officer Chadhary Aslam Khan, in he was killed with other people. *- January 11:- Aitizaz Hassan was nominated for award by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. And a 10-year-old servant girl was tortured to death in Punjab, raising concerns about human rights in Pakistan. *- January 19:- A bomb attack on an army convoy in Bannu city killed at least 20 soldiers. *- January 20:- A suicide bomber blows himself up near Pakistan's army headquarter in Rawalpindi killing killing 13 people. *- January 20:- The United Kingdom rejects its involvement in combat drone attacks by the USA in Pakistan. *- Pakistan air force aircrafts shelled suspected Taliban hideouts killing 25 of them in North Waziristan. *- A bomb rips through a bus full of Shi'its pilgrims in Balochistan killing at least 22 people. *- January 31:- A bomb blast killed three army personnels and four others were injured in the restive province of Pakistan. **-- February 2014:-- *- February 09: - An exchange of gunfire on the border of Sindh and Balochistan killed at least nine people. *- Gunman attacked an Islamic religious gathering in Karachi and killed eight people. *- February 11:- At least 11 people were killed when a geranad was thrown in a cinema hall in Peshawar. *- February 12:- Militants killed nine male members of a slain leader of pro-government militia in an attack on the family house outside Peshawar city. *- February 13:- At least eight police officers were killed in a suicide attack in Karachi. *- February 16:- A bomb derailed a train in Balochistan killing eight people. *- February 17:- Tehreek e Taliban said they had killed 23 Pakistani captured security forces members, in a setback to peace talks aimed at ending the Islamist insurgency. *- Former president Musharraf appeared in front of a civil court for the first time. *- February 21:- Pakistan vs India match was played for ICC T20 2014.
