Bollywood Actresses Are Paid Fraction Of What Their Male Counterpart Get
There is grumbling in Bollywood and it is getting louder-- top female actresses are paid fraction of what their male counterparts get. Shah Rukh Khan and his peers get cool Rs 400 million for a film, Deepika Pedukone is getting 70 million contract. Perhaps it is a sign of changing time that Bollywood's top heroines are sticking heir necks out to point out this disparity. Deepika Pedukone, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranuat, and Priyanka Chopra are just some of the stars who have expressed their opinion on the matter. Needless to say they stand to benefit the most if disparity ends. However, there are some factors influencing the unequal pay like: Longevity- Bollywood heroes are allowed to woo heroines young enough to be their daughters. In the past super stars as Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachhan had wrinkled faces when they finally gave up romancing fresh, young heroines on screen. Marketability: A top male star like Aamir Khan han can guarantee a certain threshold of revenue. He knows that he can profit just by asking for,say overseas rights. Script: The celluloid world belongs to men and goes on to add and that only 30 % of speaking parts in Bollywood belong to females characters.. Bollywood's exceptional exception is, of course, Vidya Balan. This gifted actress has gotten married, put on weight, and yet delivered heroine-centric hits such as 'Kahaani',and 'Dirty Picture' What is more both audience and the critics fawn on her. What Vidya Balan still has not received yet and deserve like so many of her peers,is an equal or at least comparable remuneration.
