Peace Through Cricket
When lat year during May World T 20 Cup was held in West Indies, a golden chapter was added to the history of World Cricket. Because Afghan cricket was also playing in the matches. Its group included strongest team like South Africa and India. Afghan team was defeated as expected but it showed its future glimpses in the match that it will be a strongest team in near future. Afghan cricket too birth in refugees camps that are spread everywhere in Khyber Pakhtoon Khaw. In these camps the future cricketers of Afghanistan grew up watching the best games of Imran Khan, Waseem Akram, and Javed Mian Dad on TV's. They used to play in dusty grounds with balls made up of torn clothes. When these youngmen returned home they created their cricket team and popularized cricket. When Taliban came to power in Afghanistan they banned all the western games. But afghan youth was so fond of cricket that they refused to leave cricket and Taliban had to bow heads to their love for cricket. Taliban allowed them to play cricket in Islamic dress. So in this way a regular Cricket Federation was established in Afghanistan in 2000 and Afghan cricket team got its existence. Parents of the cricketers were not in favor of cricket but young men continued to play in unfavorable environment. In these circumstances Afghan Under 19 team recently won ACC ( Asian Cricket Council) Under -19 Elite Cup.
