Japan Faces Worst Disaster After World War-II
Though Japan faced the worst Disaster in its history during peace time, after World War II but still its death toll is less would it had happened in developing countries like Pakistan. The most of the deaths occurring in Japan were due to Tsunami high waves. It is said that the Tsunami in Japan was so severe that it would have killed more than 0.2 million people in any other country in the third world. Whereas , in Pakistan, earth quake in Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtoon Khaw in Pakistan during 2005, death toll rose to 0.2 million. Tsunami is more disastrous as compared to earth quake but death were only nearly 4000 in Japan. What was it due to? What the the lower damage in Japan gives lesson to Pakistan and other developing countries. Experts say that Japan is a country where earth quaskes are regular feature, but government, media and civil society has created an awareness among the people that they have minimum damage. There are special guidelines for constructing buildings in the towns and coastal cities in Japan. For example while constructing the buildings instead of steel, iron, concrete and heavey metals, wood and plastic are used. It is astonishing for people outside Japan that if they have to make partition in a room or hall they do not use heavy wooden material or construct wall of concrete but what they use is called "Sea Foam". There is also ban on making high buildings and having exit in the buildings is necessary by law. Keeping heavy material on top of roofs is banned. Warning system is updated. All rules are followed strictly. This was the reason that most of the deaths occurred due to severe Tsunami not because of earth quake while, in thrd world countries most of the deaths in third world happened due to burrying of the people under debris of the collapsing buildings. There are many lessons for developing countries specially for Pakistan.
