The Largest Volunteer Ambulance Service In The World
During 2000, Guinness Book of World Record included the name Abdus Sattar Edhi Of Pakistan. His record was of running the largest volunteer ambulance service in the world. Abdus Sattar Edhi started ambulance service in 1948. In the beginning his services were limited to provide take injured persons to hospital, however afterward his welfare services got expanded. Edhi is getting $5 milllion annually for his welfare services from the philanthropists not a single penny from the government. People trust him, people love him and people respect him. His network of 500 ambulances connected to wireless system is working through out Pakistan. He has established more than 300 relief camps, his welfare organization has 3 air ambulances, 24 hospitals, 3 rehabilitation centers for medicines, women welfare centers, free dispensaries, acceptance and rearing of children programs, centers for providing foods to 100000 people monthly, centers for training to 17000 nurses, and have programs for dead bodies to take to their relatives and also burring dead bodies. Edhi did not enjoy any holiday from his welfare activities.
Faisal Mosque Islamabad:- Faisal Mosque in Islamabad was recognized as the biggest mosque of the world by World record Book in December 1991. Its total area is composed of 46.87 acres, and its internal hall has an area of 1.19 acres. 0.1 millions prayers in this hall and other 0.2 million prayers can pray in the mosque at a time. Its architecture was designed by a Turkish architect Vadit Daloo.
