Medical Doctors Are Leaving Pakistan

As there is no law for serving compulsorily in Pakistan for a few years after qualifying MBBS for young doctors, they are leaving Pakistan with the excuse of having no service structure. But, actually, they go to foreign countries in the greed to earn more money. With the result that inspite of spending million of rupees by the government there is severe dearth of general cadre and specialist doctors. A medical student spends PKR 150000 per annum for fees and government spends PKR 6 million on a doctor during 5 years for MBBS degree.
As doctors are not bound to serve within country for a period of 5 or 10 years so they leave country for Arabian countries mostly. Therefore, the dire shortage of radiologists, neuro-surgens, anesthesia specialists, vascular disease specialists is occurring in DHQ hospitals, BHU's. THQ's, and RHC's.
Saudi Arabia is recruiting Pakistani doctors for their newly established medical colleges. In this regard a health delegation of Saudi Arabia will recruit Pakistani medical specialists, consultants and young doctors on September 12 in Lahore hotel. Interviews will be held for appointing doctors in the field of surgery, orthopedics, neuro surgery, gynecology and radiology.
If the Pakistani government did not solve the genuine problems of the doctors then all the qualified doctors will be compelled to leave the country. During the last 2 years nearly 3000 doctors have left Pakistan and are serving in Saudi Arabia. Government must solve the issue of service structure of the Pakistani medical doctors.
