Female Student Of Karachi University Developed Plant Medicine To Treat Skin Diseases
Durshana Vijay, a student of the Department of Microbiology in the Karachi University has proved in her research project that medicines made from some parts of the plant Opuncia can play an important role in treatment against fungi Dermato phytes. Durshana told that micro organisms have the capability of creating resistance against the anti biotics medicines taken for controlling them and medicines get ineffetive. She said that plants have such compounds that would control the diseases and also have strong resistance against micro organisms to neutralize their effect and would cure the disease. She further said that knowing the characteristics of plants scientists in European countries prefere to manufacture medicines from plants. Durshana Vijay said that fungi Dermoto Phytes cause the diseases of nails, skin and and hair while, Opuncia has complete capability of controlling these diseases. She completed this research project under the supervision of Dr Shakeel Ahmad Khan but scarcity of funds, as usual in Pakistan, is a great hurdle in manufacturing the drugs. The government of illiterate people does not know the importance of Reseasrch And Education. Universities are facing trouble in continueing their research projects as well as academic activities due to shortage of funds. Who will support them? USA USAID, UNICEF, WHO, IMF or World Bank? But not the government.
