Pakistan--Britain Couple Sentenced 25 Years Each For Honor Killing Of Their Daughter
A Britain court has sentenced to life prison Pakistani-Britain parents namely Iftekhar and Farzana for honor killing of their teen ager daughter Shafilea. Hearing the sentence father remained silent while, mother was tearing and oher children of Iftekhar and Farzana burst into tears. Shafilea Ahmad disappeared in September 2003 and her body was found on the bank of river Kent in Cumbria the following February. The family had been living in the Chester area of England and Shafilea got missing from Warington near Chester. She wanted to live western style but her parents did not like her style.
Her sister Aleesha's statement in the court was that her mother said she should be killed here and our parents bagged her face before other kids and Shafilea died of suffocation. Their parents did not like her being in make up all the time, meeting her boyfriends and passing time with them that they considered was shameful for the family. Her father was a taxi driver.
There is a great lesson for those Pakistani families who are suffering from the craze of living abroad and they do not take the Islamic values and traditions in to consideration. If they want to live according to the ways and teachings of Islam they either should come to Pakistan or teach them Islamic values there. Otherwise, the incident like this one would happen off and on. Either they set aside the Islamic values and live and "do as the Romans do" then they will be accepted by the west, if they like to live as Muslims then they are the most unlikely persons for them.
