In Montreal Olympics Nadia won 3 gold medals and when she returned back home she was warmly received. However, except gaining world fame her common life had no change. She again started practicing gymnastics for 8 hours daily again. But, now government spies were monitoring her activities day and night. Actually, at the time notorious dictator Chao Shisco was ruling the country and he was fearing that Nadia may not flee out of the country due to restrictions.
In Moscow Olympics Nadia again won 2 gold medals. When she used to get out of the country she always felt freedom but when she returned back to Romania she was tired in restrictions. Even when she was washing clothes or went for shopping to the market she was under strict surveillance. Being annoyed of the vigilance she threatened to take poison and commit suicide.
In 1981, the Nadia's coach Carwali fled to the USA along with his wife, he wanted to take her with him but Nadia refused. Now, Chao government would have trusted her that she would not run away but contrast to this her monitoring was increased. She was banned to leave the country and was asked to work in the gymnastic federation.
Being fed up of the life style in Romania, she decided to flee from the country. She left for Hungry at mid night along with other Romanians. They had to walk on ice for 6 hours, on the way. The route was too hard but the joy of getting freedom made them courageous and they crossed all the hindrances and reached Hungry. From Hungry, she went to Austria then the USA.
In the USA she had no acquaintance and she was roaming hither and thither. In 1990, Bart Conner came to know about her. He was running a Gymnasium successfully in Oklahoma. He offered her to stay in his home and she accepted it. She came to know about her colleague when she stayed with him that he had been loving her since they met at the first time in Montreal Olympics (1976). Still she judged him from each and every respect and when she got sure that his love was real and Conne was sincere to her. She accepted Conner's proposal.
In April 1996 , Nadia went to Bucharest accompanied by her beloved and they married there. Their marriage ceremony was telecast from National TV. This couple is living in Oklahoma happily. In 2006 Nadia gave birth to a son who filled their lives with joys and happiness. The Real Love Succeeded.
