Walking Speed Can Indicate Likeliness Of Diseases
In the United States Scientists have revealed after research that one's speed of walking not only points out to future mental disorder but also also indicates likeliness of other diseases. The strength of grip in middle age can show likeliness of paralysis. The correlation between slow walking and poor health has already been reported.It was reported in British Medical Journal in 2009 that the slow speed of walking and death due to heart attack or other diseases of heart are highly related. According to the study of American Medical Association walking quickly by the age of 65 is deeply correlated to long life.
The researchers studied 2410 people up to 62 years of age and data about their brain scan, walking speed and strength of grip were recorded. In the the results presented in the annual meeting of academy of neurology it was revealed that after 11 years, 34 people faced mental disorders while 74 had attack of paralysis.
According to researchers slow walking speed indicated more likeliness of mental disorder while strong grip decreases the likelihood of paralysis. However, doctors have advised to have balanced diet, avoid smoking regular exercise, keeping blood pressure and cholesterol level in control to be saved from these diseases.
