Same is true of Former Punjab governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar said that he had advised former prime minister (the late) Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to appoint Lt Gen (R) Abdul Majeed Malik as Chief of Army Staff(COAS). However after developing differences with Khar, Bhutto changed his mind and selected Zia Ul Haq as COAS. (No body could dare to advise Bhutto). "Had Bhutto appointed Abdul Majeed Malik he would have not been hanged" said Khar. He said this at the launching ceremony of autobiography of 96-year-old Lt Gen (R) Abdul Majeed Malik, "Hum Bhi Wahan Maujod Thay--- Dastan e Hayat" (We were there too-story of life). Khar also said that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would have not been dethroned if he would have appointed Lt Gen Ali Kuli Khan insted of Parvez Musharraf. Majjed Malik belongs to Chakwal he has been MNA fron this constituency ans also served as federal minister as well ambassador.
