Pakistan quiest Muhammad Asif became the world champion in snooker after defeating Gary Wilson of Britain in the long thrilling final match, in Balgharia. He defeated Gary in 8-10 frame. Final match consisted of best of 19 frames. Muhammad Asif became the second Pakistani after Muhammad Yousuf to win this championship. Muhammad Yousuf had won world championship in 1994, 18 years ago, the year during which Pakistan was world champion in hockey, cricket snooker and squash. But gone are those days and became the part of the past. The result of 19-frame match became obvious in the 18th frame. After winning the championship Asif bowed to Almight. Talking to media he said he did not think of winning the world title. He is grateful to nation for its prays. President, prime minister and chief miniter of Punjab congratulated asif on his success. Shahbaz Sharif announced award of one million rupees to Asif. What a pity! Asif was denied by the Sports Board to sponsor him financially for the event. This is the condition of Pakistani players who belong to poor families, they are not backed by the government departments and the high ranking officers. Asif must slap back on the face of the government by denying to accept the Gratis. Muhammad Asif was the third Pakistani to play snooker final after Yousuf and Saleh. When sports board refused to sponsor Asif for the snooker event, the Billiard and Snooker Association contributed to make his participation in event sured. Asif has got neither the facility of any coach nor the manager. He has no job and he run Snooker club ib Faisalabad. Cngratulations! Muhammad Asif people like you are the pride of the nation , Pakistani nation is proud of you.
