Brazilian Mayor Controlled Town By Whats App( Video)
A Brazilian mayor who reigned over her town through WhatsApp messaging application was taken into police custody for embezzling millions of money from education fund. Lidiane Leite went on the run back in August 2015 when she was accused of taking the money from the town of Bom Jardim in the north-west of the country. The 27-year-old directed local authorities using WhatsApp while she lived a life of luxury in Sao Luiz, the state capital of Maranhao. She handed over to police after 39 days on the run. Following a two and a half year legal battle. Leite was sentenced to 14 years in prison after she was found guilty of taking 4,5 million pounds from education fund. She lived a lifestyle full of expensive drinks and luxury cars in Sao Luiz as she communicated with her deputies via a special 'task force' WhatsApp group. Bom Jardim is a poor town ofaround 49,000 people in one of the country'spoorest states.
