Sharmeen Chinoy Launched Petition To End Honor Killing
Academy Award Winning filmmaker Shermeen Obaid Chinoy has launched a petition t end honor killing in Pakistan. This petotoon will be sent to prime mnister Nawaz Shareef who has pledged to eradicate honour killings in Pakistan. Sharmeen, whose documentary 'A Girl In The River: Price of Forgiveness' has been nominated in the Best Documentary-short subject category for 88th Academy Awards, aims to collect 5,000 signatures, so far her petition has smashed 354 supporters. Previously Nawaz Sharif congratulated Sharmeen for the Academy Award Nomination. The premie said the theme of the film revolved around honour killings, which afflicts several segments of Pakistani society. PM also expressed the committment of the government to rid Pakistan of the honor killings by implementing appropriate legislation.
