Chairman Tehreek e Insaaf Imran Khan appointed former ambassador Tarq Aziz Ud Din chief of Staff of PTI. Tariq Aziz remained ambassador of Pakistan in different countries, but when he was serving his duties in Afghanistan he was taken hostage by Tehreek e Taliban on February 11, 2008. Tariq was travelling from his home in Peshawar to nearby Afghanistan capital Kabul, when he was taken hostage along with his driver Gul Nawaz and guard Amir Sultan in Pakistan's Khyber Agency prior to passing the border at Tor Kham. On May 16, 2008 his brother Tahir Aziz ud Din announced that he was fred along wit other hostages.
