Indian Muslim Girls Are Joining Self-Defense Programs Of Martial Art
A growing number of Indian Muslim girls has been joining self-defense programs to develop their martial art skills, eyeing more opportunities for employment in future. In a Martial arts performance held in Muslim majority villlage Kanodora in Banaskantha, a district of Gujrat State, hundreds of girls participated reflecting a growing passion for sports. About one hudred girls have displayed subtle Judo and Karate excercises, at the village's peformance, amazing the crowds. "We have got demonstrated some attacking excercises that can come handy for self-defense, said Khushbu Pajapati, a trainer of the program named podkar (Challenge). Considering the traditions of Indian Muslims, many girls were reluctant to participate in the programs. There was some hesitation in the beginning but later it became very interesting in the later stages, said Ismsat Chaudhary, a XII student. The Islamic Shari'ah permits all things that are beneficial to the body and prohibits all those that damage or are harmful to the body. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said," your body has right over you". If sports are free from things that are prohibited by Sharia'h then practicing those sports are beneficial and permissible. A Muslim should be able to defend him or herslf from the aggression (which requires physical strength) and should be prepared to struggle in the Psath of Allah, should the occasion arises. For his reason Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon Him) said," The Strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, while thee is good i both. ( Reportd by Musl;im). In the present circumstances while there is inceassise in the rape incidents in India, there is a dire need for the Muslim girls to have self-defense skills, specially in Msartial arts.
