1,900 Couples' Wedding In Yemen Sets New World Record
Yemen entered Guinness Book of World Records when it staged world's largest mass wedding involving 1,900 couples. The wedding was staged in the capital Sanaa this week and it smashed the previous record wedding of 326 couples held in Singapore in 2009. Egypt's Middle East News Agency said the wedding in Sanaa involved 1,900 orphaned couples and it was sponsored by the Yemeni Al-Yateem Development Organisation, a non-profitable Yemeni group concerned with helping orphans. " The wedding staged by Al-Yateem enteree the Guinness Book as the largest mass wedding in the world," the agency said, quoting Guinness regional manager Talal Hussain.
