Protests Were Held In India Against A Wave Of Attacks On Muslims (Video)

Protests were held in cities in cities across India against a wave of attacks on Muslims by mobs that accuse them of killing cows or eating beef. The protests follow the stabbing to death of a 16-year-old boy accusing him of possessing beef on train. The other day a man was beaten and his house was set on fire by a mob that accused him of slaughtering a cow in eastern Jharkand state. Critics accuse right-wing Hindu groups, some linked to PM Modi's party, of formenting or not doing enough to stop violence against Muslims or lower caste Hindus who eat beef or work in meat or leather industry.

Hindus worship cows as sacred to their religion. All of the 60 attacks since 2010 involving cow-related violence were recorded Modi and his nationalist government came in to power in 2014.

Community leaders called on Modi to do more to protect 14 % of India's 1.3 billion people who are Muslims.
