a 13-year-old girl died in India after family allegedly compelled her to undertake 64-day fast as part of a community ritual. She was forced by her family members and community elder to undergo more than 60-day fast. The girl was studying in eighth class. She was on fast for 64 days. She was on liquid diet for first two days (after the fast). On the third night her blood pressure dipped and she was taken to private hospital where she was declared dead. Her father says she has performed this ritual earlier but this time her body reacted differently.
