Popular writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar was invited on a talk show last night to offer clarification on his crass comments against Marvi Sirmed. Qamar was joined by TV personality and NA member Aamir Liaquat Hussain and actor Resham.
During the course of the program, when Aamir was asked about his views on the whole ordeal, he went on to assert that Qamar was in need of psychological treatment.
“Kal tak mein samajh raha tha kay yeh eik bohat badtameez qism kay insaan hai leken ab mujhe mehsoos horaha hai kay inhein treatment kee zaroorat hai. Inko kisi dimaghi doctor ko dikhaney kee zaroorat hai ( Up until yesterday I thought that he was just ill-mannered. Now I feel that he is in need of treatment. He needs to go to a psychiatrist),” he said.
Aamir then went on to call out Qamar’s egotistical behavior going as far as to claim that the writer should be put in an isolation ward.
“Inki zehni kaifiat iss had taq poanch chuki hai kay yeh k, shakhsiat parasti kay ander dakhil hochukey hein aur behter hai kay inka nafsiati illaj karaya jaye aur inko isolation ward mein rakha jaye. Yeh insanoo mein rehney kay qabil nahi, inhein insanoon sey dur rakha jaye ( His state of mind has deteriorated to the extent that he has become fully self obsessed. It would be better if he’s put in an isolation ward as he is not fit to live with humans),” he said.
The federal government has sent a letter to the UK authorities asking them to deport former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan, confirmed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, a few days after the Punjab government decided to cancel his bail.
Briefing the media about the cabinet meeting held earlier, Dr Firdous said "The letter to bring a foreigner back home has been sent", referring to Nawaz who was allowed by the Islamabad High Court to go abroad for medical treatment last year.
Dr Firdous said that based on Shehbaz Sharif's reaction, it seemed that the letter written by the foreign ministry had arrived in the UK. She said that sending the letter to the UK authorities was necessary to fulfill legal requirements.
A couple of days ago, Dr Firdous had said that the government had decided to write to UK authorities to deport the former prime minister. She had accused the PML-N of not providing the Punjab government with updated medical reports of the PML-N chief.
“Nawaz Sharif did not provide his medical reports to the Punjab government and time has now come that he should be brought back," she had said during an event in Sialkot.
Dr Firdous also blamed a section of the media for creating an environment and portraying as if the former prime minister's health was in danger if he was not allowed to leave the country.
The PML-N, on the other hand, has maintained that Nawaz's medical reports had been sent to the Punjab government. The party accused the government of resorting to political revenge.
She said that the cabinet was given a briefing on the coronavirus situation in Pakistan. Dr Firdous said that the cabinet had decided to tackle the coronavirus situation in coordination with provincial governments. She said that the cabinet had called on taking stringent monitoring and screening measures at entry points, especially airports, to contain the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Imran was briefed about the economic situation during the session. Dr Firdous said the prime minister directed the government to ensure that food items were provided to the public at low cost. The premier was told that the government's economic policies were providing relief to citizens.
During the session, PM Imran praised Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub's performance, according to Dr Awan. She said that Ayub briefed the prime minister on overbilling and electricity tariffs. PM Imran directed the government to bring down electricity costs so that people can avail maximum benefit.
She disclosed that the prime minister took notice of corporal punishments of children in schools and directed the government to take action against this practice. He tasked the human rights ministry to legislate on the matter
Indonesian authorities are offering a reward to anyone who can rescue a saltwater crocodile with a motorbike tyre stuck around its neck — and survive.
The contest will see one brave crocodile hunter land an unspecified amount of cash but it will mean coming face to face with the 13-foot (4-metre) reptile Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi.
Local conservation authorities have been trying — and failing — for several years to find a way to untangle the crocodile after video showed it gasping for air.
That sparked worries the tyre was slowly killing the beast.
After a recent sighting, the province's governor instructed his resource-strapped conservation agency to figure out how to end years of fruitless attempts.
The agency offered few details on the reward or how outsiders might pull off the task.
But its chief — who said the cash would come out of his own pocket — warned that he was not calling on amateurs to hunt down the reptile but rather addressing people with a background in wildlife rescue and a thirst for conservation.
"We're asking the general public not to get close to the crocodile or disturb its habitat," said Hasmuni Hasmar, the head of the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency.
Women in Peshawar will be able to offer Friday prayer in congregation after a gap of over two decades as the law and order situation in the province has improved significantly following the launch of successful military operations.
Until mid 1990s, women would offer Friday prayer in congregation at Sunehri Masjid (Golden Mosque) situated in the Peshawar cantonment but the practice was abandoned after terrorism badly hit the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa capital.
Dozens of terrorist attacks took place near the mosque which led to its closure for women almost 25 years ago.
In 2016, 16 people were killed and dozens wounded when a powerful bomb went off as the bus carrying mostly government employees cruised past the mosque in the crowded marketplace of Saddar.
Now, with a substantial improvement in the security situation, the authorities have decided to resume the practice and arrangements for women’s congregation prayer have been finalised.
The authorities have also put up a banner outside the mosque carrying message “that women are now welcomed to offer Friday prayer at Sunheri Masjid”.
The move is being praised as a good step to discourage the patriarchal nature of spaces like mosques and hujras from where women are excluded.
